La Liga preview and odds: Las Palmas vs Valencia
April 02, 2016 18:15pm - Estadio de Gran Canaria
La Liga
Las Palmas will be looking to leapfrog struggling Valencia and move one step closer to La Liga survival when the teams meet at Estadio de Gran Canaria this weekend.
Four wins in five for Las Palmas
Las Palmas come into this match in great form having won four of their last five La Liga matches, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Real Madrid.
The Canary Islanders have shown significant tactical and physical improvement under new boss Quique Setien, and now stand a great chance of retaining their top-flight status following their promotion last year.
Los Amarillos come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win away from home at Real Sociedad. That game marked their third straight 1-0 away win in the league. On home soil, they have won four of their last eight, having drawn once and lost the other three (against the top three teams in the league).
Neville on borrowed time
During the recent `Festival of Fire` celebrations in Valencia, fans set fire to an effigy of Coach Gary Neville in what was perhaps the most damning sign yet of the boss`s growing unpopularity. After being jeered off the pitch to cries of `Donkey` in his last match, it appears as if the former Manchester United full-back`s position is becoming untenable. He did not help his cause by spending the international break on England duty as deputy to Roy Hodgson.
Valencia fans are concerned that their current form could put them in danger of relegation - despite having a six-point cushion over the danger zone. A defeat in the Canary Islands could certainly leave them even closer to the drop zone, depending on other results. Los Che come into this game on the back of three straight league defeats, the most recent coming at home to Celta de Vigo.
Team news
The home side will be without the injured trio of Wakaso Mubarak, Hernan and Javi Castellano.
Meanwhile, the visitors have Joao Cancelo, Enzo Perez, Denis Cheryshev and Zakaria Bakkali all out of action, while Dani Parejo and Barragan are both still doubtful.
