La Liga preview and odds: Malaga vs Espanyol
April 03, 2016 16:00pm - Estadio La Rosaleda
La Liga
Two mid-table teams who have improved in recent weeks will go head-to-head on Sunday when eighth-ranked Malaga take on 12th-ranked Espanyol at La Rosaleda in La Liga.
Malaga looking for third-straight win
Malaga have been beaten just once in their last six games and are looking to secure their third-straight win in the league. Los Boquerones come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win away to Real Betis. Prior to that, they edged past Sporting de Gijon by the same score-line on home soil.
As a result of their recent good form, the Andalucian side have risen to eighth in the table, but remain eight points adrift of seventh-ranked Athletic club.
Espanyol starting to show some form
It has been a difficult start to life at Espanyol for Romanian Coach Constantin Galca. In recent weeks however, ther have been significant signs of improvement. After a winless run of eight games, they have now won four of their last six and have risen clear of the relegation battle into 12th place.
In their most recent match, the team from Barcelona recorded an impressive 2-1 win at home to Athletic Club to extend their unbeaten run to three games. Away from home they recently ended a run of nine straight defeats with a win in Gijon (4-2) and a draw Granada.
Team news
The home side will be hindered by the absence of Ricardo Horta, Roque Santa Cruz, Arthur Boka and Carlos Kameni.
Meanwhile, Abrilla will be missing for the visitors.
