La Liga preview and odds: Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe
April 01, 2016 20:30pm - Campo de FĂștbol de Vallecas
La Liga
Rayo Vallecano and Getafe will both have a chance to move clear of the relegation zone on Friday night, but who will come out on top when the Madrid teams go head-to-head at Campo de FĂștbol de Vallecas?
Rayo hoping to break the drawing habit
Rayo Vallecano have drawn eight of their last 13 games, with seven of those finishing with a 2-2 score-line. Another draw on Friday night would put them just one point clear of the relegation zone, while a win would move them three points clear ahead of Saturday`s games.
Paco Jemez has led his side to safety in every season since he was appointed as Head Coach, despite operating under a constrained budget. However, this current squad is arguably his weakest yet, and keeping them in La Liga could represent his greatest achievement since arriving in Madrid.
In their last game, Rayo drew 2-2 away to relegation rivals Granada, and prior to that, they were held 1-1 at home by Eibar. On home soil, they have lost just one of their last five games (1-5 to Barcelona), having won two and drawn the other three.
Getafe winless in 10
Getafe have lost eight of their last 10 games, having drawn the other two. As a result they have plummeted down the league table, and now occupy 18th place in the standings. The Madrid side have lost their last five away games in a row, and have not scored a single goal on any of their last four road trips.
The Azulones come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Eibar. In their last away game, they were smashed 6-0 by Barcelona. In their last four away matches they have conceded 16 goals and scored none.
Team news
David Cobeno, Patrick Ebert, Razvan Rat and Tono Rodriguez will all be missing for the home side due to various injury problems.
Meanwhile, Carlos Vigaray is the only confirmed absentee for the visitors.
