Premier League preview and odds: Watford vs Hull City
October 29, 2016 15:00pm - Vicarage Road
Premier League
In-form Watford will seek to retain their top-10 status when they welcome out-of-sorts Hull City to Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
Just one defeat in six for Watford
Watford`s second season back in the top flight, and the first under new boss Walter Mazzarri, has so far been a success. Despite a shaky start to their campaign, earning just one point from their first three fixtures, the Hornets bounced back to secure 11 points from their next six games, losing just once.
As a result, they have risen to ninth in the table with a total of 12 points. A win this weekend will ensure that they retain their place in the Premier League`s top 10. However, so far they have performed better away from home, having picked up eight of their 12 points on the road this term.
The Hertfordshire club come into this game on the back of a 0-0 win away from home to Swansea City. Prior to that, they won 1-0 away from home at Middlesbrough. So far this term, Mazzarri`s men have scored and conceded at least one goal in all of their home matches.
Meanwhile, opponents Hull City will be looking to put the brakes on a run of five straight defeats that has left them languishing in the bottom three. The Tigers are winless in seven since they opened the season with back-to-back wins against Leicester City and Swansea City. Last time out, they were beaten 2-0 at home by fellow strugglers Stoke City.
Mike Phelan`s men have conceded at least one goal in each of their last 7 matches but they have managed to score in all of their away games this term.
Team news
Watford will have to manage without the injured group of Isaac Success (muscle), Kenedy (muscle), Craig Cathcart, Stafeano Okaka (hamstring) and Brice Dja Djedje (foot).
Meanwhile, Hull City are top of the injury charts with Robert Snodgrass (ankle), Moses Odubajo (knee), Andrew Robertson (Calf), Dieumerci Mbokani (hamstring), Greg Luer (knee), Alex Bruce (Achilles), Brian Lenihan (knee) and Allan McGregor (back) all out of action.
