Premier League preview and odds: West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester City
October 29, 2016 15:00pm - The Hawthorns
Premier League
West Bromwich Albion are without a win in their last four Premier League matches and must now face a Manchester City side themselves looking for a first win in three. The action takes place at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
Average start for Baggies
No team wears the mid-table tag as convincingly as Tony Pulis` West Bromwich Albion. They rarely set the world on fire with their performances yet manage to do enough keep themselves clear of danger. This season, the Baggies look set for more of the same as they hover predictably around the mid-table positions, frustrating teams with their solid but effective displays.
Last time out, the West Midlands side were beaten 2-1 away to Liverpool. Prior to that, they played out three-straight 1-1 draws at home to Tottenham Hotspur and away to Sunderland and Stoke City. On home soil, they have remained unbeaten since losing to Everton on the opening day.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have been enduring a poor spell of form by their own high standards. A run of six games without a win in all competitions cannot be considered a crisis but has certainly set tongues wagging amongst Pep Guardiola`s critics.
The Spanish boss has made the obvious point that his team is still a work in progress and should not be judged so early in the campaign. He also made it clear that he will not be changing his approach after a handful of poor results.
In the league, the Citizens have only been beaten once, although they did draw their last two games against Everton and Southampton. As a result, they are now level on points at the summit of the table with Liverpool and Arsenal but remain top thanks to a superior goal difference.
Team news
West Brom may have a fully fit squad to choose from subject to a late fitness test for James McClean.
Meanwhile, the visitors will also have to wait on the fitness of Kevin de Bruyne, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna, while Fabian Delph is not expected to recover from a muscle injury in time.
