Serie A preview and odds: Carpi vs Sassuolo
April 02, 2016 18:00pm - Stadio Alberto Braglia
Serie A
Two of Serie A`s in-form teams will go head-to-head on Saturday as 17th-ranked Carpi take on seventh-ranked Sassoulo at Stadio Alberto Braglia.
Carpi out of danger zone
A run of five games without defeat has lifted Carpi out the Serie A bottom three. That run included three straight draws against Torino (0-0), Atalanta (1-1) and Bologna (0-0) before recent back-to-back wins against Frosinone (2-1) and Hellas Verona (2-1).
The Modena side are now clear of the drop zone thanks to a superior goal difference over 18th-ranked Palermo. Despite their improvement, goal scoring remains a problem for the Biancorossi with just 28 successful strikes recorded in the league this season. Only Udinese and Hellas Verona have managed less.
One defeat in seven for Sassoulo
Sassoulo are sat comfortably in seventh place in Serie A but remain a full 10 points adrift of the European qualification places. The team from Reggio Emilia has lost just once in their last seven outings, and that defeat came at the hands of league leaders Juventus.
In their last league match, they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Udinese and prior to that came the defeat in Turin. Away from home, they have lost just two of the last eight, having also won three and drawn three.
Team news
They home side will be hampered by the absence of Jonathan De Guzman, Eddy Gnahore, Zeljko Brkic, Raphael Martinho, Igor Bubnjic and Matteo Fedele.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Luca Antei, Simone Missiroli, Paolo Cannavaro and Karim Laribi.
