Premier League preview and odds: Liverpool vs Everton

April 01, 2017 12:30 pm - Anfield

Premier League

Old rivalries will be rekindled on Saturday lunchtime as top-four chasing Liverpool look to complete a season double over an Everton side with European ambitions of their own.

Reds unbeaten in 13 against Blues

Liverpool will look to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive, while extending their unbeaten record against Everton to 14 games at Anfield on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp`s men are currently sat in fourth place in the table but have played more games than the rest of the top six. They have won their last three matches at home including victories over second-ranked Tottenham Hotspur and sixth-ranked Arsenal. They come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Manchester City.

The Reds have scored at least one goal in each of their last 11 home matches and have only lost once on home soil in the last 13 months.

Meanwhile, Everton are currently sat in seventh place in the table just six points behind their local rivals. However, they have only won two of their last 12 away matches in the Premier League and have had to rely on their strong home form to keep them in the hunt for European places.

Ronald Koeman`s men have a poor recent record in the Merseyside derby, having failed to beat Liverpool in any of their last 13 meetings. In the Premier League, they have beaten Liverpool just once in the last 11 years, and that victory came at Goodison Park. Their last victory at Anfield came 18 years ago.

Team news

Injuries could play a big part in this game with both sides missing key players.

The home side will have to make do without Jordan Henderson (foot), Daniel Sturridge (ankle sprain), Oviemuno Ejaria (ankle sprain), Marko Grujic (hamstring strain), Danny Ings (meniscus tear) and Adam Lallana, who picked up a thigh injury on international duty.

Meanwhile, Morgan Schneiderlin (knock), James McCarthy (hamstring strain), Yannick Bolasie (knee) and Muhamed Besic (knee ligament) are all crocked for the visitors.

Everton: WWLWD

Betting odds and tips

Everton have not been great away from home this season and their record against Liverpool is dire. In fact, they have not won at Anfield since 1999. However, they have shown enough in recent weeks to suggest that they can at least get on the score sheet this weekend.
