Premier League
Premier League Newcomers Bournemouth will make the short journey along the South Coast to pit their skills against eighth-ranked Southampton at St Marys Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Saints unbeaten in four
Southampton are making steady progress in their attempt to ascend the Premier League table and will be hoping to avoid any slip-ups against their newbie neighbours from across the New Forest on Sunday. With two wins and two draws in their last four games, Ronald Koemans team have edged their way back into the top eight with just over a quarter of the season gone.
Last weekend they played out a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool to deny Jurgen Klopp his first league win as boss of the Anfield outfit. That was their second draw on the bounce after they were held at home by Leicester in the preceding week.
The Hampshire club are unbeaten on the road this term but have been defeated twice at their home arena by Everton and Manchester United. They last faced Bournemouth in 2011, when both teams were languishing in the third tier of English football, and managed to beat them home and away.
Cherries crushed at home last time out
Bournemouth will be looking to address the defensive issues that led to a 1-5 home mauling at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last week. A Harry Kane hat-trick and goals from Mousa Dembélé and Érik Lamela condemned the new kids on the block to their sixth defeat of the season.
That loss has left the team teetering on the edge of the relegation trapdoor with a total of just eight points. Depending on how other results pan out, a seventh defeat could see them plunge into the murky depths of the drop zone by the end of the weekend.
After letting in 10 goals in their last two games, Bournemouth hold the dubious honour of being level with Newcastle at the top of the goals-conceded table with a total of 22 against.
Team news
The home side will be without Sadio Mané who will be serving a suspension following his dismissal against Liverpool last week.

Betting odds and tips
While the Saints seem to be slowly improving in the league, Bournemouth look more like relegation fodder with each passing week. Only Aston Villa have lost more games and no team has shipped more goals than Eddie Howes team of minnows. The home win can be backed at 4/7 with Ladbrokes and Coral.
Graziano Pelle already has five goals to his name this season and will now go up against the most threadbare defence in the league. You can back the Italian to score anytime at 6/5 with Bet365.
