Premier League preview and odds: Arsenal vs Watford
January 31 , 2017 19:45pm - Emirates Stadium
Premier League
Arsenal will look to keep in touch with the league leaders when they take on 14th-ranked Watford at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night. The visitors themselves will be looking to break a seven-game winless streak in the league.
Gunners have Chelsea in their sights
With league leaders Chelsea facing a difficult trip to Anfield on Tuesday night, Arsenal must be ready to take full advantage if their London rivals drop any points. That means securing all three points it what is a must-win home game for the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger`s men have won four and drawn one of their last five Premier League matches and are unbeaten at home since the opening-day defeat to Liverpool. In addition, they have scored in each of their last 13 matches.
In total, 68% of Arsenal`s matches have produced more than 2.5 goals scored and the Gunners have scored in all but one of their home matches.
Meanwhile, opponents Watford are winless in seven league matches, having drawn three and lost four since they beat Everton back in December. Walter Mazzarri`s men come into this game on the back of a 2-2 draw away to AFC Bournemouth. Prior to that, they drew 0-0 at home to newly-promoted Middlesbrough.
Team news
Granit Xhaka is suspended for the home side who will also be without the injured group of Mohamed Elneny (calf injury), Mathieu Debuchy (hamstring strain) and Santi Cazorla (Achilles injury).
Meanwhile, Jose Holebas is suspended for the visitors, while Valon Behrami (hamstring strain), Nordin Amrabat (ankle injury), Isaac Success (thigh injury) Roberto Pereyra (muscular injury) and Adrian Mariappa (knee injury) are all out injured. Christian Kabasele had issues with cramp in the last game and is a slight doubt.
