Premier League preview and odds: Swansea City vs Southampton
January 31 , 2017 19:45pm - Liberty Stadium
Premier League
Swansea City will look to build on their morale-boosting win over Liverpool by overcoming the challenge of Southampton at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the visitors will be looking to record back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since September.
Swans out of bottom three
A run of three games featuring two wins and one defeat has lifted Swansea City out of the bottom three. The club that looked doomed just a few weeks ago, are now heading into the final third of the season full of confidence.
With a new boss at the helm and a historic away win at Liverpool under their belt, the Swans look to be on the up. However, Paul Clement will want to ensure that his team maintains that positive momentum.
The Welsh club have not won a league game or scored a goal at home since December, so rectifying those stats will be the next on the bosss to-do list.
Meanwhile, Southampton broke a four-game losing streak by beating Leicester City on home soil last time out. Away from home, they have lost their last two in a row, without scoring a goal. In fact, they failed to score in four of their last five away games.
However, Claude Puel`s men eased past Liverpool to book their place in the League Cup final last week and despite losing heavily to Arsenal in the FA Cup a few days later, they should be feeling confident ahead of this game.
Team news
The home side will without the injured group of Leroy Fer (knock), Sung-Yueng Ki (calf strain), Leon Britton (calf strain), Modou Barrow (knock) and Neil Taylor (fractured cheekbone), while Luciano Narsingh (calf strain) and Jefferson Montero (hamstring) are both doubtful.
Meanwhile, the visitors have plenty of issues of their own with Jay Rodriguez (ankle), James Ward-Prowse (chest), Virgil van Dijk (ankle), Charlie Austin (dislocated shoulder), Alex McCarthy 8hamstring strain), Jake Hesketh (ankle injury), Matt Targett (hamstring strain) and Jeremy Pied (knee) all out of action, while Sofiane Boufal (knee) is also a doubt.

Betting odds and tips
Southampton have struggled away from home in the league and are facing a team that has been rejuvenated by the arrival of new boss Paul Clement. As a result, the price for a home win looks tempting.
The home win can be backed at 23/10 with Bet365.
