Champions League Preview and Odds - Tottenham Hotspur vs Bayer Leverkusen
November 02, 2016 19:45pm - Wembley Stadium
Champions League - Group Stage
Tottenham Hotspur will look to break a winless run of five games in all competitions when they host Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley Stadium in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday.
Group E finely poised with just three points separating all four clubs
Tottenham`s last Champions League game at Wembley back in September ended in defeat to Monaco. The North Londoners will be looking to improve on that result this time out when they host the third-ranked team in Group E in their temporary home.
Mauricio Pochettino`s men have not won any of their last five game in all competitions and have won just one of their three European fixtures this term. Four of their last five games have ended in draws including the reverse edition of this fixture in Germany two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, opponents Bayer Leverkusen come into this game on the back of a 2-1 win away to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. That was their first win in five games in all competitions and their first win on the road in four.
The Germans have not won any of their last eight Champions League fixtures and have drawn six of the last seven. They do have a decent record at home in the competition having lost just one of their last 11 at the BayArena. However, on the road, they have not won any of their last seven.
Team news
Toby Alderweireld is still out with a knee problen for Spurs, while Harry Kane is still not fully fit after suffering from an ankle problem. Erik Lamela has an illness and is also set to miss out.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Lars Bender (knock), Joel Pohjanpalo (foot), Karim Bellarabi (abductor) and Vladlen Yurchenko (Fibula), while Jonathan Tah (knock) and Omer Toprak (thigh) are both doubtful.

Betting odds and tips
Bayer Leverkusen are winless in seven away from home in Europe`s elite competition, having drawn three and lost four. However, playing this game in a neutral venue may even things up a little.
Spurs were stunned 2-1 by Monaco in their first Champions League game at Wembley and may once again struggle to feel at home in the vastness of the national Stadium.
Bayer have drawn seven of their last eight in this competition and we could see yet another stalemate on Wednesday night.
